Fazer signs with bass Timo Riihonen

We are delighted to announce that the Finnish bass Timo Riihonen has joined the Fazer Artists’ Management roster.

We are delighted to announce that the Finnish bass Timo Riihonen (b. 1983) has joined the Fazer Artists’ Management roster. Following the footsteps of great Finnish basses, Riihonen has already acclaimed reputation on the international stages.

Since 2009 Timo Riihonen has been engaged to Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Düsseldorf. In Düsseldorf, his roles have included Angelotti (Puccini: Tosca), Sparafucile (Verdi: Rigoletto), Der Einarmige (Strauss: Die Frau ohne Schatten), Colline (Puccini: La Boheme), Zuniga (Bizet: Carmen), Sprecher (Die Zauberflöte), Publio (Mozart: La Clemenza di Tito) and Citheron (Rameau: Platée) among others.

In 2010 Riihonen debuted in Milan Teatro alla Scala and the Berlin State Opera in the role of Fafner (Wagner: Das Rheingold). Performances were conducted by Daniel Barenboim. One of the highlights of the season 2012-13 is the debut in the Berlin Philharmonie including roles of Fafner (Wagner: Das Rheingold) and Hunding (Wagner: Die Walküre). Concert performances of both operas are part of Wagner cycle recorded by Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra and conductor Marek Janowski and released by PentaTone. In the spring of 2013 Riihonen will give his debut at the Dijon Opera in the role of Commendatore (Mozart: Don Giovanni).

Riihonen studied at Sibelius Academy in 2003-2012. In 2008-2009 he studied at the Zürich Opera International Opera Studio under Roland Hermann’s guidance.
