Fazer signs with soprano Miina-Liisa Värelä

We are delighted to announce that the Finnish soprano Miina-Liisa Värelä has joined the Fazer Artists’ Management roster.

We are delighted to announce that the Finnish soprano Miina-Liisa Värelä (b. 1982) has joined the Fazer Artists’ Management roster.

Miina-Liisa Värelä is one the most promising new voices of her generation in Finland. Among other acknowledgements, she is the fresh winner of the Timo Mustakallio singing competition and she received the scholarship of Matti Salminen –foundation in spring 2011. 

Miina-Liisa Värela made her debut in the autumn 2011 at the Finnish National Opera in the role of Ortlinde (Die Walküre). Upcoming roles in 2012 will be Leonora (Il Trovatore) in the Lahti Opera and First Lady (Die Zauberflöte) at the Savonlinna Opera Festival. In Sibelius-Academy Värelä's roles have included Governess (The Turn of the Screw), Sylvienne (The Merry Widow) and First Witch (Dido & Aeneas).

Miina-Liisa Värelä was the young debutant of the Helsinki Festival 2011, during which she performed as the soloist of Mahler's 2nd Symphony with Ingo Metzmacher and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra. As an active concert and lied singer Värela has appeared at Korsholm and Kangasniemi Music Festival and as a soloist with Kuopio Symphony Orchestra and Opernwerkstadt in Switzerland among others. In spring 2012 she will perfom in Savonlinna Opera Festival – gala concerts with the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra. Värela is at home with wide-ranging lied repertoire and performs at regular basis with pianist Kiril Kozlovsky.

Miina-Liisa Värela  is finalizing her studies at the Sibelius-Academy with her teacher Margareta Haverinen-Brandt. She continues her studies with Dale Fundling.
