Fazer signs with bassbaritone Nicholas Söderlund

We are happy to announce that the Finnish bassbaritone Nicholas Söderlund has joined the Fazer Artists’ Management roster.

We are delighted to announce that the Finnish bassbaritone Nicholas Söderlund (b. 1977) has joined the Fazer Artists’ Management roster.  Söderlund is a singer with versatile musicianship and he is at home equally well whether it be an opera stage or a small intimate Lied concert.

Nicholas Söderlund won the second prize at the Lappeenranta Singing Competition in 2006 and was the second prize winner in the international Sibelius Singing Competition in 2007. Söderlund received the Finnish Wagner Society's Bayreuth Scholarship and Martti Talvela -Foundation award in 2007 and Karita Mattila -scholarship in 2009.

Nicholas Söderlund is an active concert singer and has performed as a soloist with many Finnish orchestra’s. As an oratorio- and Lied-singer he has performed in the Nordic countries, Russia, Estonia, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy among others. Söderlund made his professional opera debut at the Finnish National Opera in 2007 in Fredrik Pacius’ opera Kung Karls jakt in Wachtmeister’s role. Since then he has been a regular guest at the Finnish National Opera. In 2008-2009 Söderlund was engaged to Basel Opera in Switzerland. Among the roles in 2011-12 season will be Groves’s role in the new production of Adams’ opera Doctor Atomic at the Finnish National Opera.

Nicholas Söderlund has made several recordings for the Finnish Broadcasting Company. He is particularly active performer of the contemporary Finnish music and has premiered pieces from Olli Kortekangas, Jouni Kaipainen, Pasi Lyytikäinen, Jukka Linkola, Juhani Haapasalo and Harri Kerkko.
